In my recipe post on Tilapia and Pan Fried Spinach, I made it pretty clear that I do not eat the healthiest. I love sweets way too much and I have this terrible guilt when it comes to wasting food. This means that no matter how much is on my plate, I will eat it…and I tend to put a lot on my plate. Bad news.
But you know what? I’m tired of feeling guilty, I’m tired of feeling exhausted and lethargic, and I’m tired of being ignorant of what I’m putting into my body.
James and I know we need to make a complete lifestyle change. I don’t want to do this just to lose weight and feel better about how I look (however that’s a plus) but I want to be aware of the harmful toxins and chemicals that I have been unknowingly putting into my body through food, cleaning products, and beauty products. These are the things that will affect us in the long run. I knew that when we have kids I wanted to start them off right by using natural cleansers and soaps and loads of nutritional foods. But then I realized, I should be doing those things now for James and I! There is no reason to wait.
This month will be the start of healthy eating, smaller portions, and regular exercise. I’m also anxious to try some natural, homemade cleaning products like the list I found here on Style Me Pretty. Along the way, I will fill you in on our progress and what works and what doesn’t, not just for the sake of telling you, but for the accountability. I know that now that I have put it out there that I’m doing this, I need to follow through. My husband needs to follow through as well so if you are reading this and you see him on a daily basis, don’t let him get nachos or McDonald’s for lunch. There, now we are both covered.
